2012 will be the time that Beijing reaches its target of no more then 50% of its garbage reaching its landfill sites the other 50% will be recycled, incinerated or biochemical treated China-Environmental reports. Landfill will only be the last alternative as there are many environmental benefits to disposal of garbage using other methods. Beijing is now undertaking a Hugh building program of waste treatment facilities and key players of waste reduction and recycling handling technology are find great opportunities in the Beijing municipal area and in fact across China.
China annual growth rate for garbage did reach 8% in 2007 but has been growing by 6.5% in 2008 and just over 6% in 2009 but even at this rate its reported that the 12 landfill sites of Beijing would be filled by 2016 so the need for the Beijing Municipal Commission to reach its targets is imperative . Investment in Incineration plants, Waste to energy solutions, recycling technology, urban waste-treatment technology and waste and recycling handling solutions is just half the story as more investment is needed in at point use household waste treatment technology, priorities will be given to integrated disposal and utilization of dining and kitchen waste resource technology. We also greatly need to improve a ability to distribute and subsidized waste and recycling home storage to solutions to the general public with in the Beijing area.
China has a big demand for recycled materials they import plastic recyclable matter from Europe etc and then turn this into value added products and sell it back to the world. The merits of Incineration will help plug the gap of China’s hungary need for energy.
