	Background knowledge on the subject of tunneling Tunneling has a long history. It makes many demands on man and machine, so it is a great challenge for all involved. Full-face tunnel boring The prevailing local geology has a decisive influence on the construction of individual full-face tunnel boring machines. A fundamental distinction is made between rock (hard rock) and earth (soft soil), although, naturally, there are also solutions which combine both. Open tunnel boring machines Driving in stable rock This type of boring machine is suitable for driving in stable rock and is used for the excavation of traffic tunnels (road and rail), supply tunnels (water, gas and electricity), pressure water utility tunnels for hydroelectric plants, tunnels for cable cars high in the mountains, tunnels for geological investigations and other special applications. The main elements in the construction of the open tunnel boring machine are the cutter head with its associated drive housing, the support construction (the so-called gripper) and the advance mechanism. Research & Development The contribution of research & development to the overall success of the company cannot be underestimated. A good example of our R&D efforts is the undercutting technology, which was successfully applied in the field. 	Wiser treatment of dust air The treatment of dust air from crushing, quarrying and explosion is another major application area of the Wiser scrubbing process. In such instances, the scrubbing will greatly reduce smoke hour, allowing more time for actual production and greatly improving working conditions. The Wiser scrubbing equipment can also be used for drop separation, odour elimination and air-conditioning. The Wiser know-how of water treatment represents a basis for the use of excessive water in Wiser scrubbing – therefore, it ensures high efficiency of the Wiser scrubbing process. Water used in scrubbing is treated with Wiser dissolved air flotation and circulated so that additional clean water is not required. Wiser water aeration While conventional aeration methods are based on spraying water into the air or the running of water, the function of the Wiser aerator is based on the intensive mixing of air into water. The Wiser aerator contains a patented rotor and the aerator is designed to simultaneously sucks air (or any other gas, as required) and water into the rotor from different directions and disperse the gas into the water. The rotor reaches about half a metre into the water and joined with a suction tube it is possible to reach the bottom of a deep tank or any desired point of aeration. It is possible to install the Wiser aerator either standing on the edge of a water tank or on a anchored pontoon for floating. The motor remaining above the water surface is protected under a case and in this instance it is also possible to install intake air preheating for outdoor function during winter. The Wiser aerator can operate as a blender only, in which case it breaks up solid substances into water, homogenises and emulsifies as necessary. It is possible to create pressure conditions as high as 1 bar with the use of the Wiser aerator. The construction material for the aerator can be chosen according to process. Wiser aerators are available of capacities from 10 to 300 m3/h of water. Free intake air amount can vary from 0 - 5 % of water

Non-ferrous separator Apart from the well-proven conventional iron separation WAGNER MAGNETE as one of the first enterprises has concentrated on the field of separation of non-ferrous metals like aluminium and copper. The applications of WAGNER non­ferrous separators (nf-separators) are numerous and diverse. Almost all that is diminished by a shredder and sorted into various fractions or grain classifications contains nonferrous metals. The aim of the separation is either to recover valuable metals directly or to clean parent material for the reuse whereby both is of course possible. Important examples are glass recycling or the recycling of wood, rubber and synthetic products. Here very high rates of reusability above all for basic materials are achieved. Valuable metals can be recovered from the automobile­ and electronic scrap recycling, recycling of old cables or from domestic waste and packing waste. The mentioned classification into equal grain sizes and a one-layer material feed if possible is the pre­condition of an efficient nf-separation. The operation takes place completely automatically. It should be taken into consideration that the whole iron share in the bulk material is removed or selected by a well-working additional magnetic separation step whereby the nonferrous separation is distinctly improved. Besides, the operating time of the conveyor belt is prolonged. WAGNER further offers a ferrous and nonferrous separation combination as complete device. The mode of operation is based on the principle of induction. A quickly rotating magnetic pole system induces eddy currents in the conductive nf-parts at a high frequency. They themselves produce magnetic fields of the same polarity towards the magnetic rotor which leads to the repulsion of nonferrous parts.
