ACID FLY ASH WASHING: HIGH RESIDUE QUALITY WITH RECOVERY OF VALUES
Acid washing extracts salts and heavy metals from fly ash and concentrates them into recyclable form. The process pays for itself because the concentrate contains over 20% zinc. This operation is combined with wet flue gas scrubbing; the acid effluent from the scrubber is used as the wash liquor for the fly ash. Fly ash treatment yields extremely leach-resistant residues with low pollutant levels meeting the limits of the eluate test – the world's toughest. ENERGY RECOVERY: DESIRABLE FOR MANY REASONS
Recovering the energy contained in waste is one of the key goals in thermal waste treatment. Our plants can recover this energy at efficiencies from about 60% to over 100% (with additional utilization of the heat of condensation present in the flue gas) and deliver it to households and/or industry for use. Because more than 50% of the energy content of non-recyclable waste comes from renewable sources, more than half of the recovered energy is CO2-neutral. This means there is a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions to levels below those of all other thermal processes. FLUE GAS SCRUBBING: MULTISTAGE PROCESS FOR LOW EMISSIONS
The flue gas scrubbing system comprises multiple stages in which gaseous pollutants and heavy metals are removed from the flue gas. The wet scrubber cleans up the flue gases reliably and with minimal doses of consumables even when the pollutant burden is high. Residues are extremely small in quantity. The pollutant-laden water is neutralized and either purified or concentrated by evaporation. The result is emission values just a fraction as high as the most stringent limits. Digester Scum Blanket
Anaerobic digesters are notorious for the formation of scum blankets due to grease, hair and other floatables. The Vaughan Scumbuster® virtually eliminates the effects of a scum blanket and prevents it from reforming by homogenizing and conditioning. This type of mixing allows digesters to regain their design capacity, extends the time between cleanouts and generates more methane gas. The Scumbuster with a 20 HP, 1750 RPM Explosion Proof motor will handle most digesters up to 80 feet in diameter. Larger diameter digesters, or heavy scum blankets, may require 2 pumps. The model 5300 will fit a 28” minimum diameter manhole, and the 4900R will fit a 24” diameter manhole. The Scumbuster consists of a recirculator nozzle assembly with all gas-tight fittings through a custom deck plate to match the existing manhole, a heat treated impeller and cutter bar, tar based epoxy paint, a zinc anode for cathodic protection, an intrinsically safe oil monitor relay and a neoprene mounting gasket. Storm Water

The HAMMEL KompBio is a multi talent. Different machines are united in one: primary shredder screen secondary shredder The HAMMEL KompBio works in several steps. In the first step the feeding material, for example: biomass fresh wood root stems tree stems compost wet wood waste wood is pre-shredded, afterwards it drops on the integrated disc screen, where organic and mineral parts are separated and discharged. The here generated end product is suitable for composting. The clean, pre-shredded wood is then carried to the secondary shredding step. Exchangeable screen baskets and the design of the secondary unit guarantee an exact and regular end product with almost 100% constant chip size according to further usage of the crushed material (composting or energy utilization). The secondary shredder, integrated in the HAMMEL KompBio, produces chips with a size of approx. 40 mm to 100 mm (depending on the size of the screen basket). Alternatively, the HAMMEL KompBio could be used as a windrow turner. For this purpose the screen basket of the secondary shredder is kept open during the shredding process. In case the material contains metal parts, the HAMMEL KompBio can be optionally equipped with a magnet. By the way, our multi talent does not only shred wood but also a multitude of other materials.

Applications The high-speed shredder has been specially designed for material, such as: fresh wood green waste branches and bushes up to 300 mm diameter forest residue bark waste wood Material feed The raw material is loaded directly into the automatically operated feed hopper and goes through the feed roller into the shredding rotor. This principle guarantees continuous and permanent material feeding. If the material is too dense, the feed belt revs are automatically regulated and adjusted to suit the material, to prevent blockages in the rotor. The rotor is equipped with bolt-on hammers, which are easy and quick to change. They produce an end product of less than 50 mm*.

Secondary Shredder
Drive Diesel hydraulic drive with Caterpillar-engines or alternatively with electric hydraulic drive. Operating via switch box and through an upstreamed plant. The secondary shredder has a direct connection to the primary shredder, therefore a priority switch off in case of interferences is possible. Permanent over-belt magnet The magnet is installed in line over the discharge point of the output belt. Metal parts are discharged in moving direction to achieve the best possible metal separation. The measurement of the magnets depend on application size. Options different electric or permanent magnets Automatic metal separation The automatic metal separation consists of a metal detector and a discharge flap. It recognizes ferrous and non-ferrous metal parts in the material. The metal detector is adjustable to variable sensitivity. It is positioned at the feeding belt and controls a discharge flap, which is situated at the end of the belt or before the secondary shredder. Rotor and screen operation The rotor diameter is about 700 mm or 1.000 mm according to the version. The rotor’s working width and the number of fixed knives depend on the type. The screen basket is hydraulically capable and equipped with overload protection. The mesh sizes of the screen basket can be chosen according to the required end product size. Material discharge The discharge belt is approx. 1.000 mm wide and has a discharge height of approx. 3.400 mm – 4.300 mm. A magnet roll is build at the end of the belt to separate the uncovered small metal parts like nails, screws etc. from the final material.
