Desalination
Desalination is a process that separates most of the salts dissolved in a saline solution. There are several different techniques used to this aim, however the most extended one is Reverse Osmosis desalination. High pressure water is pumped through semi-permeable membranes that separate water and salts. The energetic efficiency in the desalination process has developed significantly in the last years rendering Reverser Osmosis the best alternative. Cadagua enjoys a well-deserved reputation as one of the first companies in the world in the field of seawater desalination through reverse osmosis. Relevant projects of the nature of Madinat Yanbu (Saudi Arabia) 50,400 m³/d, Dhekelia (Cyprus) 40,000 m³/d and Valdelentisco (Spain) 200,000 m³/d (phase I - 75,000 m³/d), consolidate Cadagua’s ranking in the international market.
Drinking Water
Drinking Water Plants turn natural or raw water into drinking water. These installations are located among the water collection installations (reservoirs and wells) and the tanks and pipes networks delivering water to households. Their mission is to eliminate the three main types of undesirable substances in the water intended for human consumption: mineral material, organic material (phenols, hydrocarbons, detergents, pesticide waste ...) and biological pollutants (bacteria, protozoos, virus, etc.) Cadagua has designed and built approximately 75 drinking water plants achieving a total treatment capacity of 4,000,0000 m³/d.
Industrial Water
Industrial effluent originates from any industrial activity that requires water, either in the production phase, transformation or handling phases, including the waste water, process water and drainage water. Depending on the process, each type of industrial activity, releases a waste water characterised by specifical type of contamination. Cadagua has more than 140 industrial waste water treatment plants in operation. The know-how obtained from this experience is applied directly to the new designs, resulting into constant optimisation of efficiency and costs. We also count with the exclusive co-operation of a major Dutch company, Paques BV, specialists in anaerobic and aerobic biological treatment.
Sewage
The term "sewage’’ comprises several types of waste water, ranging from household and services water to industrial and rain water, all collected in the municipal network. We have designed and built more than 100 sewage treatment plants reaching an installed production of 6,000,000 m³/d. With more than 35 years of experience, Cadagua is leader in the design, construction, operation and maintenance of waste water treatment plants. We are proud to count as our references the largest installations of the main cities in Spain such as Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, Seville etc as well as the biggest BOOT Sludge Thermal Drying installation in Europe (Sur, Madrid 300,000 Tn/year).
Sludge digestion and energy recovery
One concern modern society has is protection of the environment. Reduction in energy consumption, preservation of the sources of raw materials and the waste reduction are main factors to ensure this. Waste produced must be stabilised and made inert and, if possible, must be turned into the object of clean technology development by reuse or recycling. The stabilisation methods now used vary according to the technical and economic conditioning factors, which may be summarised as follows: aerobic or anaerobic digestion, lime treatment, composting, drying and incineration. Due to the importance of energy recovery and the possibility to obtain products that allow beneficial use of sludge from sewage, anaerobic digestion continues to be the most widespread process. The organic matter in sludge is converted biologically, under anaerobic conditions (in the absence of oxygen), into methane and carbon dioxide. That biogas produced may be used to generate power so the need for the plant to consume external power is significantly reduced. Cadagua, being aware of the environmental importance of this process, encourages research work by its R&D i team on such projects as âGassification Process of Biosolids from sewage plants for energy use". That project was distinguished with the European Environmental Award - Basque Section and that has provided Cadagua recognition in the sector beyond our borders.
Sludge thermal drying and cogeneration
The need to seek how to finally dispose of the bio-solids generated in the sewage treatment plants has led to a process of thermal drying consisting of heat application for evaporation of a major part of the interstitial water content of these bio-solids from sewage plants. Through this process, by reducing the volume, a better final disposal of sludge generated is obtained, moreover, in many cases, it may be used as fertilizer to improve ground quality and as fuel in certain industrial processes. Cogeneration in a municipal sewage plant produces mechanical and thermal power from the digestion gas that may, in turn, be used as fuel for internal combustion engines or gas turbines. Thus, the cogeneration process fulfils two basic objectives: one economic and another environmental. This process produces electric power, reducing the operating costs and producing heat, which allows to obtain, through thermal drying, a dry granulated biosolid, with a very reduced volume, highly hygienic and with a potential subsequent use. Among its references, Cadagua counts with the largest Sludge Thermal Drying Plant in Europe (South, Madrid 300,000 tn/year) as a DBOO contract; a total of nine contracts and three of which are in Poland

Cim-ReVerSy-RT kiln
The Cim-RT is a twin shaft regenerative kiln featuring an improved rectangular cross section. It is the Cimprogetti entry level design in parallel flow regenerative kilns. The key technological features of the process are: the efficiency of the regenerative calcination technology, proven by innumerable installations around the world; the simple cross section and the use of standard refractory linings; the option to use all technological innovations developed for the higher performing TD and RD kiln families, namely for the charging and discharging systems. The Cim-RT is the logical choice for smaller plants and/or specific applications like the mining industry when sound technology and reduced investment are required.
Cim-ReVerSy-TD Kiln
The Cim-TD lime kiln features the patented “D-shaped” shaft cross section and is Cimprogetti’s distinguishing mark in TSR kilns. The simplicity of the rectangular cross section and the performance of the circular cross section are combined to offer excellent value for money performance. The advanced semi-circular shape of the shaft, the SRT/ULD pressurized limestone charging and distribution and the double deck discharge tables moving in four directions allow very good burning uniformity. The Cim-TD kiln is mainly targetted at plants with: medium and high outputs (300 to 500 tons per day) of burned lime or dolomitic lime or smaller capacity kilns where a superior lime quality (res.CO2 <1,5%) is a key requirement. Moreover, the short interconnecting channel between the shafts allows a design with a reduced requirement for refractory materials and steel structure. The Cim-TD kiln is also available in the FinerStone configuration.

High Density Polyethylene (HPDE) Piping
Clearford’s SBS™ uses small diameter, fused-joint High Density Polyethylene (HPDE) piping for its collection mains, laterals and clean-out access points. This pipe is stronger, more resilient and more flexible than conventional PVC sewer pipe, and has a design life of over100 years, compared to 35 years for PVC. HPDE requires minimal bedding, offering a more flexible range of layout possibilities. One roll of HDPE delivers up to 350 meters of pipe. All connections, bends and appurtenances are welded on-site to create a sealed, leak-free piping system that completely eliminates groundwater infiltration into the sewer system and the potential for sewage leaching into the environment, and ensures consistent and predictable operation and maintenance costs – the lowest of any sewage collection system.
Installation of Piping
HPDE piping allows two simple installation options – open cut (digging small, shallow trenches) or trenchless technology (TT) using horizontal directional drilling (HDD). Both installation options cost significantly less than traditional sewers, can be installed in a fraction of the time using local labour, and have a minimal impact on the environment. In addition, the open cut method and the sealed nature of the HDPE piping allows common trenching to be used for both water and wastewater.

Membrane filtration
Colloide Engineering Systems can design, build and commission membrane systems to their Clients needs. Colloide are agents for several key membranes such as Nadir and Microdyn, can draw on the best membrane for each application and can cover the full filtration range whether it be micro-filtration, ultra-filtration, nano-filtration of Reverse Osmosis while using the most appropriate configuration in each case. Proven techniques are used for ongoing applications while pilot plants are available for those applications where a degree of uncertainty is present.
Sub snake membrane filtration system
The sub snake system comprises a series of flat sheet semi-flexible membrane assemblies submerged within a process tank. Clean water is filtered to the inside of the membrane assembly with the solids being retained on the outside. Air is introduced below the membranes and acts to(a) keep the membrane surface clean by creating a flow across the membrane surface and (b) provide oxygen for the activated sludge.

CMC-SF-300 The CMC-SF-300 is a classic. This model has been produced successfully for many years and is one of the most cost-saving and reliable machines within the compost industry. With a maximum working width of 3.5m and a height of 1.6m compost windrows with a cross section of up to 3.5m² can be converted. The main item of the machine is the unique functionality of the conversion roll. The material is optimally mixed and loosely re-piled. Carbon dioxide escapes, oxygen is concentrated and the aerobic process of composting is ensured. Corresponds to the strict criteria of the Controlled Microbial Composting!
TracTurn3.7
The Trac Turn stands for turning and side movement of the material. No matter if triangular, trapezoid windrows or table pile, the Trac Turn can handle every compost windrow up to a height of 2.3 m. The width of the compost windrow is irrelevant. During one run the Trac Turn turns up to 3.7 m of the compost windrow. If the compost windrow is wider more runs are necessary. The Trac Turn was developed within the last ten years of practical use. Its practical feasibility was consistently improved and confirmed on numerous plants. For a turning performance of 1500 m³/h the TracTurn requires an input power of ~200kW. You need a tractor with enough weight and a reverse drive adaption. If the TracTurn is used on several plants, the tractor can be used for transportation as well. The TracTurn provides the possibility to work without alleys and therefore, sets new standards for space economy to optimise the performance and therefore to optimise your benefit.
