For the second year in a row, MHG Heating is again among those nominated for the H&V News Awards. After the ThermiPro hybrid heat station was nominated in 2009, the EcoStar Hybrid oil-condensing/heat pump system is now among the nominees in the “Domestic H&V Product of the Year 2010” category. Appliances nominated in this category represent either genuine innovations or a novel application of existing technology to new markets. In the awards, criteria such as aesthetic effect, efficiency and the demonstration of commercial success are considered. The product's environmental credentials will be scrutinised closely.
“We are very proud to have one of our appliances nominated for these high profile industry awards again this year,” says Graham Rodd, Managing Director of MHG Heating Ltd. “This nomination again confirms that we are on track with our product innovations in the area of renewable energies and that our long-time experience in the industry is valued. The EcoStar Hybrid is a global innovation and ideal when modernising existing oil heating systems through the inclusion of renewable energies.”
Now in their 16th year, the 2010 awards will again be an independent stamp of approval for excellence throughout the HVAC industry. The H&V News Awards is the major UK heating and ventilating event within the industry's calendar. This year's awards will be held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on 29 April 2010. The organisers say that competition is fiercer than ever this year with entries really excelling in quality and raising the bar.

EcoStar Hybrid: the global innovation for modernising existing oil heating systems
With the new EcoStar Hybrid, MHG now offers a compact, turnkey system technology appliance consisting of an oil-condensing boiler, an air/water heat pump and system control in one exceptionally priced appliance. The appliance can be combined with a second heat generator and a thermal solar system whenever required. This configuration harnesses three energy sources - ambient heat, sun and heating oil - in a single appliance, two of which are forward-looking renewable energies. As a result, all heating requirements are covered with a high share of renewable energies of up to 80 percent. The savings potential versus older appliances corresponds to 50 percent and more.
Innovative air-oil principle guarantees flexible adjustment to energy prices
In operation, the EcoStar Hybrid's intelligent system control always selects the most economical energy source or energy mix with the highest share of renewable energies. In summer, spring and autumn, the heat pump module and - if present - the solar system deliver the energy required for the supply of hot water and heat depending on the required hot water temperature and storage type. The only costs arising for home owners are in powering the heat pump as the oil-condensing module only activates on demand in order to maintain a comfortable hot water reserve. If the bivalence point is exceeded in cold weather, the heat pump turns itself off and the oil-condensing boiler is activated. Thanks to the air/oil principle, homeowners now have the flexibility of adapting to any changes in the price of heating oil and heat pump power by raising or lowering the bivalence point, thereby ensuring that the most economical energy source is used. The EcoStar Hybrid also permits a theoretical increase in the share of renewable energies to 100 percent if the power is from a renewable source and bio fuel is used.

MHG Heiztechnik is a long-established Hamburg company, with decades of tradition. Emerging from MAN Heiztechnik GmbH, we have been an owner-operated company since October 2005. In Haspa Beteiligungsgesellschaft für den Mittelstand we have a financially powerful, far-sighted partner at our side, whose parent company, Hamburger Sparkasse, with its balance sheet total of EUR 31 billion in 2004, is Germany 's biggest savings bank.
We have a widespread network of our own offices for service and sales in Germany , as well as through sales representatives. Intensive advice and support for our partners in the heating installation industry are thus ensured.
In addition to Germany, MHG Heiztechnik also sells its products in over 35 markets, such as Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Belgium, France, Great Britain, Ireland, China and Eastern Europe.
The product range includes:
- Oil units with blue flame burners in the output range from 15 to 90 kW.
- Oil condensing boiler units with blue flame burners in the output range from 15 to 27 kW.
- Gas units in the output range from 15 to 82 kW.
- Gas condensing boiler units in wall-mounted and floor-standing designs, in the output range from 3 to 1,675 kW.
- Blue flame burners (Raketenbrenner® [Rocket Burners]) for boiler outputs from 15 to 315 kW for operation with heating oil.
- Yellow flame burners for boiler outputs from 13 to 1,450 kW for operation with heating oil.
