The LUKAS History

1945	Consolidation of several parts of the company Frieseke and Hoepfner GmbH in Erlangen.
1948	Start of the development work on the hydraulic products which form the basis of today’s product range.
1955	Frieseke and Hoepfner GmbH is taken over by shareholders of the FAG group in Schweinfurt.
1962	LUKAS rerailing equipment launched for rail vehicles of all types.
1972	LUKAS rescue technology launched.
1981	Incorporation into the FAG group.
1990	Factory moves to the new premises in Erlangen, close to Nuremberg.
1993	Management takeover. Company is renamed LUKAS Hydraulik GmbH.
1995	Takeover through IDEX Corporation.

LUKAS places particularly high demands on its products, which is why LUKAS hydraulic equipment undergoes a number of quality tests. It exceeds internationally recognized standards in terms of quality as well as performance. We can therefore offer our customers safety when deciding for LUKAS qualitytested products.
The LUKAS Quality Management System is certified in accordance with ISO 9001, and the LUKAS Environmental Management System in accordance with ISO 14001. Both of these management systems form a comprehensive framework of rules for all procedures in our company.
In order to maintain a consistently high level of product quality, all materials and production steps are tested

• when materials and parts are delivered
• during production and assembly
• during the final inspection of the equipment.

Continuous product innovation is one of the cornerstones of the LUKAS corporate philosophy. A high percentage of today’s turnover is achieved with products that have been developed or considerably improved in the recent past.
”LUKAS Concept Innovation” is geared towards manufacturing equipment which is more than capable of meeting the challenges of today’s fire services, railway companies and modern industry. Therefore, LUKAS tools are lightweight and compact, offering unsurpassed ease of operation while at the same time meeting the highest demands in terms of performance and durability.

Developement

Over 50% of the standard equipment currently being produced has either been newly developed or considerably improved within the last 5 years.

Progressive technology and the most modern and durable materials have contributed to the worldwide success of LUKAS products.

The simple and safe handling, the favourable power-to-weight ratio and their proverbial reliability have made the LUKAS tradename synonymous with quality worldwide.

Production

LUKAS hydraulic equipment is manufactured using the latest technology at the factory in Erlangen, which we moved into in 1990.

High-performance numerically controlled metal working machines, rotating-shelves for a rationalized small parts inventory and an optimized computer-controlled material flow all combine to create a rational form of production.

The production and assembly workers are experienced and highly motivated.
