The idea of mobile shredders was new in 1980; the world was seeing a rapidly growing market for onsite size reduction. SSI was started to meet this demand as a contract shredding company. Flexibility was key in our early development. Our customers frequently came to us with unique problems, which compelled us to concentrate on engineering new solutions rather than off-the-shelf technology. The old idea that there was one solution for all, just wouldn't work in this market. Our customers needed a choice of options.

Now a quarter century later, our innovation, improvement, and engineering to application have created an evolution of the most versatile shredders in the market today.

We have installed SSI shredders in over thirty countries located on five continents providing solutions to the world. Examples: Four of SSI’s M160's, one of the world's most powerful shredders, are operating in the world's largest waste incineration facility located in Singapore. We've developed alternative fuel processing systems for global cement companies and we've installed our shredders to process the organic hazardous waste for the entire country of Norway.

	"The Crusher" Mobile Scrap Compactor The Crusher™ was engineered specifically for the ever-changing needs of today’s scrap and recycling markets. Now you can process tin and white goods more efficiently and reliably from remote locations with SSI's scrap metal compaction system. SSI’s Crusher is built for rapid loading and compaction of bulky materials, consistently delivering bales at ideal density for auto shredders.
	Dual-Shear™Two-Shaft Shredders Recommended for metals, soft plastics, tires, product destruction, or any diverse and contaminated materials where particle size variation is acceptable. Configured in a variety of sizes, drive options, and cutter configuration
	Medium-speed, single-shaft, rotary shredder-grinder Recommended for wood, paper, hard plastics, and other brittle materials with limited metal contamination, where small, uniform particle size is important. Configured with either electric or hydraulic power options.
	PRI-MAX™ Primary Reducers A high-capacity solution ideal for construction and demolition debris and for volume reduction of solid wastes containing metal and abrasives. Particle size is coarse. Configured in a variety of sizes as mobile or stationary units and with either electric or diesel power options.
	Quad™ Four-Shaft Shredders Especially suited for applications such as electronic scrap, tire recycling, alternative fuel production, and reduction of contaminated materials where uniform, small to medium particle size is desired. Configured in a variety of sizes, power options, and cutter geometries.
	SSI Pre-Load Compactors SSI Pre-Load Compactors are used to compact, load and transfer from 25 to 125 tons of waste per hour into lightweight transfer trailers to maximize payloads for long haul transfer. Automated controls ensure full length constant density force throughout the payload. An efficient ejection system accurately positions loads on transport for optimum and legal weight distribution. "Free standing" compacted loads allow you to use lighter tare weight trailers/containers, resulting in increased net payloads.
