The Kahlbacher Company has been committed to this motto for over 50 years
At the beginning of the over 50 years of the company’s history was Toni Kahlbacher, a man of ideas. Together with his wife Marianne he established a locksmith’s shop in 1949 specializing in the construction of cement mixers.
The construction of the first snow plow in the mid-fifties was the starting point of a singular winter service program for snow removal in all types of traffic areas.
The company’s history has been marked by numerous pioneering feats, which is also reflected by the approximately 220 patents held by the family business in Austria and abroad.
The company has always attached great importance to taking up new challenges and developing and implementing practical concepts.
Today, Kahlbacher has got 100 employees at the Kitzbuehel location, which includes 2 production plants, and the Amstetten location with one production plant.
The main products are equipment for snow removal on roads, special equipment for snow removal at airports, and jet-ways
However much the geographic and meteorological conditions may differ in various parts of the world, the range of products is no less manifold.
It includes wedge snow plows, multi-purpose snow plows, side blade snow plows, rotary snow plows, snow blowers, centrifugal blowers, rotary blowers, and salt and grit spreaders.
For this reason Kahlbacher is able to offer convincing solution packages for different regions with different types of roads, climatic conditions, snow qualities and snow depths
This is reflected by the high proportion of exports - 40 % -, the prime markets being the Federal Republic of Germany, Slovenia and Croatia. Other important export customers are Hungary, Italy, Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Greece, and other countries.
The fundamental basis of the high export rates is the high quality standard of the long-lived machinery Kahlbacher produces for a fiercely contested market.

| Snow cutter blower KFS 650 The Kahlbacher snow-blower – Model KFS 650 is a powerful machine for removing snow. It is characterized by universal use, high quality standard, sophisticated technology, easy handling and robust design for efficient and economical municipal snow clearing in any environment. The proven “open“ clearing system of this snow-blower guarantees trouble-free removal of any type of snow, from slush to frozen snow. Thanks to the accurate coordination of the rotary frequency of the impeller and of the auger a considerable throwing range is obtained at maximum utilisation of capacity. The snow is moved by a stable sheet steel weldment with integrated impeller housing. The impeller housing with the chute connection is made of extremely hardwearing steel. A host of mounts allows quick on/off attachment at the front or the rear end of different vehicles. The snow-blower is propelled by the front-end or rear-end power take-off shaft of the vehicle via a propeller shaft to an oil-bath lubricated gearwheel or chain gear to the impeller; hydraulic propulsion is also possible. |

The snow-blower is propelled by the power take-off shaft of the vehicle via a propeller shaft directly to the impeller (tractor rear end) via an oil-bath lubricated gearwheel (tractor front end) or via an oil-bath lubricated pinion-chain gear combination (Unimog). Hydrostatic propulsion via hydraulic motor is also possible. The augers are protected against overload by a no-wear cam-controlled clutch, which is located at the axle gearbox input. When it is actuated, the impeller continues its operation, and the jamming of the chute is thus prevented. Engages automatically when the power take-off shaft is restarted. The operating facility is increased considerably by the fact that no downtime for replacing the shearing pin is necessary and an optimal protection against damage is available. The impeller is protected against overload by a shearing pin safety clutch, which is located at the gearbox input shaft. Swivelling chute mounted on a ball-bearing steering ring. Slewing range approx. 210 degrees, continuous hydraulic adjustment. A selection of discharge chutes, depending on the respective requirements, and hydraulically adjustable discharge flaps allow discharging the snow to the desired location in any environment. |
| STS-R Kahlbacher sliding blade snow plough STS-R are high-quality snow clearing machines for professional use in any environment. STS snow ploughs are multi-blade sliding blade ploughs, which are tightened in all components so they are able to operate on the heaviest wheel-loaders. The blades with fluidic optimisation guarantee optimal snow intake. All STS ploughs are equipped with an overrunning safety device with an automatic return mechanism and every blade is equipped with two additional antifriction-block-elements. The blades are suspended in guiding slots with abrasion-proof antifriction blocks, which shows the effect of a particularly favourable swerving curve when an obstacle is overrun. The high-quality sliding blocks are maintenance-free and ensure smooth running of the snow plough. After overrunning an obstacle the plough blades are restored to their defined clearing position by special rubber elements. The special rubber elements are completely maintenance-free, weather- and UV-resistant and show continuous torsion-free elasticity. The snow plough is mounted to a strengthened mounting frame with floating-position-facility and quick-change mounting frame adequate to the wheel-loader. The massive lateral-movement-frame in broadened construction has four large telescope-swivel-cylinders, two for each side. The swivel-cylinders are protected against overload by two dashpot valve with big joining sections. The swivelling range is 32 degrees. Two swivelling pneumatic running wheels with continuously adjustable spindle regulation allow careful, low-noise clearing. The plough blade and the scraper implement are protected against damage by curb guards screwed on both sides. All STS-R ploughs are equipped with running wheels, screwed, no-wear steel scraper implements, screwed curb guards and a support foot for safe parking of the disengaged plough. |
| Twin discharge blocking mechanism Twin discharge blocking mechanism for ¬Elastic Snow Plough HES The twin discharge blocking mechanism by Kahlbacher was introduced to avoid unwanted snow deposits in sensitive areas. It is intended for mounting on tractors, UNIMOG, trucks and municipal- and special purpose vehicles. It requires 4 HD circuits or the refit with a suitable electronic remote control for the discharge blocking mechanism from the driver’s cab. The opening and closing of the discharge blocking mechanism, which is situated diagonally to the longitudinal axis of the snow plough, controls the snow flow. Both discharge blocking mechanisms can be operated very quickly separately or together with double-action hydraulic cylinders. Due to the shovel form it is possible to load greater amounts of snow and to lower it wherever one desires. |
