VTA Engineering and Environmental Technology Ltd. was founded in 1992. The headquarters are located in Weibern, Upper Austria. The VTA Group operates successfully on an international basis, predominantly in Europe, but also in North Africa and in the Middle East. VTA’s internally developed system products are produced in our in-house production facilities in Upper Austria.
Our experienced customer support team, which includes highly qualified systems engineers, biologists and chemists, is at your service. Their work is supported by a modern equipment, such as the computer-controlled online analysis. The state-of-the-art equipped VTA laboratories are used for extensive research and analysis projects as well as for precise data processing.
Another important aspect of our business policy is constant innovation. In close cooperation with leading research institutes and international universities, we continually work on further developments of trendsetting models in waste water treatment which meet the highest ecological and technological requirements.
VTA is a specialist in the optimization of wastewater plants

| Bulking Sludge Bulking sludge is activated sludge with poor sedimentation characteristics, mostly due to extensive growth of filamentous bacteria (sludge volume index >150 ml/g). The VTA-products (particularly the BIOKAT-series) contain special carriers which facilitate the systematic growth of filamentous bacteria. The good (oder: favourable) cleaning performance of these filamentous bacteria is kept intact while their unfavourable characteristics (i.e. poor sludge sedimentation characteristics) are eliminated. | Floating sludge Floating sludge concerns the parts of the sludge in activated sludge tanks and final sedimentation tanks which float on the surface and show gas bubbles ; It is mainly due to the high fat content in the wastewater. VTA offers system products which enhance the reduction of fat and suppress the development of filamentous bacteria. | H2S - Elimination Hydrogen sulphide is a colourless, highly toxic, highly flammable and - corrosive gas which smells of rotten eggs. Due to the anaerobic conditions in pressure lines, the sulphate in wastewater is reduced to sulphide or hydrogen sulphide. This leads to the development of the smell and to damage from corrosion. | Sewage sludge disintegration Within the last decades, the wastewater treatment technique was predominantly concerned with the improvement of the biological purification performance in water treatment plants. In many areas, these measures have been completed. The focus for the future will be on the economical optimization of the plant. International studies prove that more than 50% of the existing digestion plants work insufficiently and show bad results. This has numerous causes which are often not investigated. Utilizing a suitable sewage sludge disintegration plant can remedy deficiencies in an easy and rapid way. Sewage Sludge Disintegration – A New Technology for Improvement of Digesters Generally, disintegration means the crushing (or: reducing) of sewage sludge by exposure to external forces. This happens e.g. by mechanical, thermal or chemical processes. The use of ultrasound (mechanical sewage sludge disintegration) has proved to be successful in science as well as in practice. It is reliable, economic and easy to be integrated in the process of a wastewater treatment plant. | |
