Building, built environment

VTT's expertise in the areas of building and the built environment enables it to provide development and expert services related to actual construction, use, maintenance and ownership. The expertise embedded in these VTT services is derived from about 200 of our own experts and the utilisation of domestic and international networks. We help our customer to anticipate technology developments and business needs by creatively combining VTT’s own technology with our partners' expertise. We also take advantage of basic research results conducted by universities and our global networks.

Energy

VTT's energy research comprises a variety of production forms from nuclear to bioenergy, and to other forms of renewable and environmentally friendly forms of energy production. Energy economy, energy transfer and storage as well as effective use of energy and management of emissions are also an essential part of our research. Our services and expertise cover all parties involved in the energy value chain. We enhance the competitive edge of our customers and contribute to the welfare of society by creating and applying technological and financial expertise in the energy sector together with our customers and by providing support to decision-making in the public sector. In the development of the energy sector, with regard to the needs of both the present and the future, it is important to promote versatile use of fuels and different forms of energy production and to take economic and environmental factors into account.
