Jacobi Carbons is the largest coconut shell activated carbon manufacturer in the world, with multiple locations and a manufacturing capacity in excess of 40,000 metric tonnes. As a Swedish company, we take our environmental responsibilities very seriously. We are the only coconut shell carbon manufacturer with the foresight to have attained ISO 14001, the only globally accepted standard for environmental management. With the commitment of our entire organization we have been able to achieve the delicate balance addressed by the standard of maintaining profitability while reducing environmental impact.
Putting the customer at the centre is what we're all about, and being flexible and highly productive is what makes this possible.
In many ways Jacobi Carbons is leading the carbon industry. We combine our high quality lower cost products with the industry's best talent and technical resources and throw in an unparalleled customer service and several hundred years of combined experience. We don't impose products and solutions on our customers, we listen, we learn and we develop what is needed. And all this at a speed that our customers find "refreshing"!
After all, being the fastest growing activated carbon manufacturer in the world helps to reassure us that we're on the right track....
The Jacobi Group was founded in 1916 by Ferdinand Adolph Wilhelm Jacobi a German emigrant from Bremen that at an early stage set the pace for the company's future global expansion in the chemical industry through the entire 20th century.
In 1984 it was time for Ferdinand's grandson to take over the helm and under his command the company grew its activities dramatically, not only in activated carbon, but also in other related chemical products.
In 1987 Jacobi Carbons established its initial contacts with the activated carbon industry in China and in 2003, Jacobi established its own facility in Tianjin, still today way ahead of the competition.
In the early-to-mid 90's the company expanded its international activities outside Europe and established several international sales offices. In 1996 Jacobi Carbons received ISO-9002 certification.
In 1998, Jacobi Carbons established its first joint-venture for coconut shell production in India. Today this plant is one of the most modern coconut shell manufacturing facilities in the world.
Today, from our Head Office in Kalmar, Sweden, we are proud to be active in over 100 countries worldwide and still growing!
From its humble beginning in Stockholm back in 1916, Jacobi Carbons has grown into becoming one of the world's leading activated carbon manufacturers.
Our 35% rate of annual growth, every year, for the last five years is a testament to our success. Thanks to the loyal support of our new and old customers, we continue to be the world's fastest growing activated carbon manufacturer.

| AquaSorb Water covers three quarters of the earth's surface and is the essential substance which brings life to plants, animals and the entire population of the globe. The AquaSorb range of activated carbons has been specially developed to remove dissolved organic contaminants from water and to revitalize its natural purity. Applications include municipal water treatment involving the removal of taste, odour and color compounds, process water treatment in beverage production, brewing, semiconductor manufacture, effcluent water treatment in the remediation of contaminated ground, car wash facilities and landfill leachate treatment. |
| DioxSorb The ever growing population of the world and the responsibility for the environment continue to place increasing pressure on traditional methods of waste disposal. Incineration has become widely recognized as best available technology to deal with this problem and consequently a substantial number of plants are now operating in the developed world. Due to the constituents of the waste, the flue gas can become contaminated with dioxins, mercury and heavy metals. The DioxSorb range of powdered activated carbons has been specifically developed to eliminate this problem. Applications include domestic waste-to-energy plants, hazardous waste incineration and clinical waste incineration. |
| EcoSorb The purity of air on our planet is of vital importance to us all. The EcoSorb range of activated carbons has been developed to remove volatile organic compounds from air and gas. Applications include the recovery of solvents used in rotogravure printing, viscose production and the manufacture of magnetic films, air treatment in airports, cigarette filter tips, range hoods, gas purification in the petrochemical industry, natural gas production and brewing industry | |
