Wastewater Wastewater discharge still represents a practical threat to human, wildlife and aquatic health and the environment. Day after day, polluted liquid and solid materials are flushed down their toilets by citizens and industries discharge their effluents. Keppel Seghers brings a plurality of treatment technologies into action to reduce, destroy or capture organic and inorganic material and disease-causing bacteria in wastewater. Ultimately, the water is either discharged to surface water or re-used as process water or drinking water.
Drinking and process water Water resources are essential for all life, as well as for social and economical development of countries. With increasing water scarcity and pollution of water bodies, it is essential to look for other water resources for daily drinking and process applications. Keppel Seghers offers technological solutions that make efficient re-use of effluent water possible. Also desalination plants are developed to turn seawater or brackish water into good quality water.
Biosolids/Sludge Wastewater treatment as well as many industrial processes produce biosolids and sludge. Land use and landfill applications are becoming restricted or are even forbidden in most countries. Keppel Seghers delivers the full sludge treatment range, going from classical dewatering techniques to HARDpelletising and/or combustion technologies to prevent the diffuse contamination of natural water resources and land.
Municipal solid waste Waste management issues are undeniably of critical importance in the governing of environmental impacts. Although policy makers, industries and citizens already made great efforts regarding waste prevention, the amount of municipal solid waste generated in many countries is still increasing. The idea that recovery of energy from waste is positive from many aspects has become widely accepted. Therefore, the aid of improved thermal waste treatment and flue gas cleaning technologies is welcomed by many policymakers and even by the general public.
Hazardous waste Most industrial and medical wastes require special treatment. A preferred solution is the complete destruction of hazardous waste in an environmentally friendly and safe way. Keppel Seghers specialised itself in the design of fluidised bed systems to thermally destroy a big variety of hazardous wastes. Contaminants are removed from the flue gases to meet the required emission standards to the air.
