The Mission Statement of PDR regarding Value-Based Corporate Management

Our work is based on and geared towards the protection of the environment. Using innovative environmental technology we make an active contribution to resource conservation and climate protection. Compliance with the law and regulations is an absolute must. Whenever technically feasible and economically sound we will do much more to achieve this objective than we are required to do.

Aware of our responsibilities we design our business and operational process based on our experience, know-how and competence in such a way that the health and safety of our employees are ensured, while ruling out any harmful effects for people and the environment.

We recognise that we provide a service to our customers. Professionalism, flexibility and timeliness are the yardsticks by which we measure the quality of our work. We are committed to the concerns of shareholders and stakeholders as well as their equal treatment.

Within the framework of an ecological and social market economy it is our objective to achieve a high level of value creation.

PDR was established in 1993 as joint-venture of the leading European PU foam manufacturers. The objective was to create a cross-industry collection and recycling system for used polyurethane (PU) foam cans. Meanwhile, the company – based in Thurnau, northern Bavaria –has built up a second leg to stand on as provider of high-grade recycling solutions: as European partner of Hewlett Packard for the take-back and recycling of HP ink-jet cartridges. For both products, PDR has developed the recycling technology in collaboration with competent research institutes and built a recycling plant. The company employs approximately 60 staff members.

In order to prove its quality demands, the company underwent a series of examinations. The process-oriented management system was inspected and accredited by Deutsche Gesellschaft zur Zertifizierung von Managementsystemen mbH (German Association for Accreditation of Management Systems Ltd.) concerning:

●   DIN EN ISO 14001 (Environmental Management)
●   OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety
     Management System)
●   EfbV (Specialist Disposal Company Ordinance)

In addition, PDR implemented a risk management. Due to its transparent work flows, PDR is released of certain obligations to produce supporting documents according to the Closed Substance Cycle and Waste Management Act.

	PREMODÂŽ If requested by the customer, PDR can also produce blends of the PU prepolymer PREPUR with MDI. Different ratio of mixture are possible, of course.
	PREPURÂŽ PREPUR is PU prepolymer recovered out of the used PU foam cans. This precious secondary raw material is afterwards re-used to produce glues, lacquers, fillers and binders. Are you interested in PREPUR? Please, contact then Bettina Medick (Phone: + 49 (0)9228 950-290), distribution.
	Recycling at the highest technological level In order to achieve a high substantial utilisation quota, the latest process technology is necessary. In the worldwide only plant for the recycling of PU foam cans in Thurnau, the cans are mechanically shredded out of contact with air. The liquid contents and the metal can parts (aluminium and tin plate) drop into a solvent bath. A rinsing screw brings them out again and they are pre-washed with the aid of rinsing jets. Further washing stages follow. A metal cutter sorts out the cleaned and dried aluminium and tin plate. The produced PUR solvent mixture is filtered several times and separated between PUR and solvent. The propellants are extracted above the shredder and filled into pressure cylinders. The plastic tops of the cans are available coarsely ground for the plastic processing.
	Recycling of HP inkjet print cartridges European partner of Hewlett Packard Since 2002, PDR is European partner of Hewlett-Packard (HP) for the take-back programme and the recycling of inkjet print cartridges. Presently, HP takes over the collection of the inkjet print cartridges in Europe. PDR -.together with their logistic partners â transports them from the depots in the different countries to Thurnau. Upon arrival at PDR, the inkjet print cartridges â sorted and separated according to the type â are sent through the recycling facility to guarantee a high degree of purity of the obtained secondary raw materials. During the multi-stage recycling process, precious metals, high-quality plastics (polysulfone) and steel are recovered as secondary raw materials. HP, the Bavarian Institute for Applied Environmental Research (BIfA) and PDR developed and optimized a special recycling technology for inkjet cartridges together over a one-year preparatory period and built the adequate recycling facility on the premises of PDR.
	Recycling of PU foam cans The recycling solution for a popular product Every year, about 25 million polyurethane foam cans (in short: PU foam cans) are used in many different areas of the building trade in Germany. Used cans are classified as waste requiring special supervision. Therefore, they can neither be disposed of in the household garbage, the containers for building waste, nor via recycling collection systems such as the âYellow Bagâ system in Germany. Nor is combustion permitted, as this would mean the destruction of precious raw materials. In order to offer the users a possibility for return and recycling and to guarantee a high level substantial recycling, the leading European manufacturers of PU foam cans established PDR in 1993. Due to a convenient, nationwide collection- and return system, PDR has the possibility to cover all PU foam cans sold on the German market, transport them to Thurnau and recycle them substantially including all remaining substance of contents.
	Thermoplastic Our thermoplastics are grounded caps of used PU foam cans. This grist is a mixture of the material PE/PP (varicoloured) and is delivered to the plastics precessing industry.
