Dare and win: A brief OAS retrospect.

Admittedly, we cannot claim adherence to the garage principle (as for example Bill Gates, William Hewlett & David Packard). But of course we too started small. In 1985, Otto A. Schwimmbeck set up an engineering office in Achim near Bremen. Before he moved to the technology park of Bremen University in 1989, within the framework of a research project he had developed the first ever computer to be capable of calibration. From this pioneering feat evolved a group of companies that today has a work force of nearly 200 and that, with branch offices, has long grown beyond the borders of Bremen and out into the European environment.

OAS is a network of individual know-how and practical interaction, concentrated in a highly efficient team. This team is made up of engineers, technicians, computer scientists, mathematicians and installation personnel. It develops solutions either for specific branches of industry or for general application and translates these into practice. The customers appreciate this know-how, whether they come from the fields of automotive engineering, building materials, chemicals and chemical building products, paints, varnishes and adhesives or from such industries as foodstuffs and luxury foods, feedstuffs, disposal and recycling, glass and ceramics, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, plastics, rubber, smelting plants or steel.

Milestones such as those listed below highlight the development of our company, fully in line with the motto of the Bremen merchants »Dare and win«: in 1991 e. g. our winning the innovation competition »Concepts for Success« of the Bremer Landesbank; or in 1992 the first approval for electronic weighing systems to be valid throughout Europe; in 1994 the introduction of a quality management system to DIN EN ISO 9001; and most recently in the millennium year 2000 the award to Otto A. Schwimmbeck of the title »Bremen's Entrepreneur of the Year«.But we attach even more importance to the trust which our customers place in the dependability, innovative capacity and the service strength of OAS. We remain faithful to these maxims!
