Darmstadt, Germany, July 27, 2011- Merck announced today that Piotr Bednarczuk will succeed Gregor Wehner, Head of Corporate Human Resources (HR), who will retire at the end of September 2011.
Darmstadt, Germany, July 27, 2011- Merck announced today that Piotr Bednarczuk will succeed Gregor Wehner, Head of Corporate Human Resources (HR), who will retire at the end of September 2011. Piotr Bednarczuk will join Merck as of October 1 and will report to Kai Beckmann, Executive Board Member of Merck and responsible for HR. In this role, Piotr Bednarczuk will lead the reorganization currently underway to consolidate HR globally across the Merck Group.
“Gregor Wehner did a tremendous job during his 32 years with Merck, 10 years thereof as our head of Corporate HR. In these years he began the establishment of global HR processes, which now provide the base on which to build a truly global HR organization. I want to thank Gregor for all his contributions, particularly during times of significant change, such as the integration of Merck Serono and Merck Millipore,” said Kai Beckmann. “I am happy that Piotr Bednarczuk, currently with Aon Hewitt Consultants as regional leader for Organization Practice based in Shanghai, China, has agreed to assume this position,” said Kai Beckmann. “Piotr’s extensive professional experience and international background make him a perfect candidate for this task.”
Piotr Bednarczuk (49) started his career at German airlines Lufthansa in a project management program after having received his Master of Business Administration and PhD in Marketing from the University of Cologne. In 1991, he moved to Lufthansa Consulting GmbH as head of Organizational and Personnel Consulting and became Senior Vice President Organizational Consulting and Human Resources in 1995. In 1999, he joined Hewitt Associates where he held several leading positions in Germany, the US and China. From October 2009, he was regional leader for the Organizational Practice for China, based in Shanghai.
Piotr Bednarczuk is a US citizen.
