Using gas filter correlation technology, the Model 48i-HL measures the amount of carbon monoxide in the sample. The Model 48i-HL is based on the principle that carbon monoxide (CO) absorbs infrared radiation at a wavelength of 4.6 microns. Because infrared absorption is a nonlinear measurement technique, it is necessary for the instrument electronics to transform the basic analyzer signal into a linear output. The Model 48i-HL uses an exact calibration curve to accurately linearize the instrument output over any range up to a concentration of 20,000 ppm. This state-of-the-art gas analyzer offers features such as an ethernet port as well as flash memory for increased data storage and field upgradability. Ethernet connectivity provides efficient remote access, allowing the user to download measurement information directly from the instrument without having to be on-site. You can easily program soft-keys to allow you to jump directly to frequently accessed functions, menus or screens. The larger interface screen can display measurement information and status while viewing menu and operational screens.
The Austrian company MLU delivers and services instruments and systems for measuring ambient air quality. MLU with its branches and partners in seven Central and East European countries is specialized in continuous monitoring of ambient air immissions and emissions. Very early MLU realized the chances of an involvement in its southern and eastern neighbouring countries and so it was already at the end of the eighties that the relevant monitoring technologies were presented to scientists and authorities. After the fall of the Iron Curtain and the opening of the former Eastern-Bloc states to "western" technology, MLU was able to start its first two offices in Hungary and Poland at the beginning of the nineties. Right from the start MLU took care of its customers being attended to by technicians and sales engineers in their own native language. The whole personnel has been carefully schooled and regularly takes part in further internal training. They can always rely on the support of product specialists in the whole of Europe as well as on the know-how of the main office in Mödling near Vienna. Germany is considered the key market for ambient air monitoring technology. Since the main products had not been presented in an appropriate way, in 1994 MLU decided to take over the general representation of the traditional most important suppliers from the United States for this country as well. As a result, today MLU is number one or number two in countries with MLU offices
| Electrical Low Pressure Impactor ELPI The Electrical Low Pressure Impactor (ELPI) enables real-time particle size distribution and concentration measurement in the size range 30 nm to 10 Âľm. The range can be extended down to 7 nm with supplementary accessory.
ELPI is suitable for any application where a wide size range and fast response times are required, including combustion aerosol studies, filter testing and general aerosol research. With ELPI it is possible to measure transient particle size distributions in a wide size range of particles and concentrations.
An interactive user interface allows monitoring of total concentration and particle size distribution in several different modes. These modes even include parallel real-time size distribution and total concentration monitoring from several units at the same time in the same window. Since ELPI is a collecting device, it is possible to carry out subsequent chemical or gravimetric analysis on the collected, size classified samples.
Operating Principle
The gas sample containing the particles is first sampled through a unipolar corona charger. The charged particles then pass into a low pressure impactor with electrically isolated collection stages. A precisely known charge given to particles in the charger is measured in real time with the highly sensitive multichannel electrometers as the particles impact each impactor stage.
The components are housed in a single compact unit. Standard RS-232 port is provided for communication with a laptop or PC. The impactor operating principle is based on particle size classification according to the aerodynamic diameter of the particles. Measured current signals are converted to (aerodynamic) size distribution using particle size dependent relations describing the properties of the charger and the impactor stages
Applications
ELPI is ideal for the analysis of unstable concentrations and size distributions or the evolution of size distributions because of its rapid response. The low pressure impactor is a very robust and easy to operate detector, which can be applied to rough environ-ments and also used for traditional gravimetric measurements. With ELPI the measured particles can be analysed later for mass or composition. ELPI´s fields of applications include:
Combustion aerosol studies including vehicle exhaust measurements (Dilution system may be required) harmaceutical inhaler studies Particle charge measurements Filter grade efficiency measurement ndoor/outdoor air measurements
Filter Stage
ELPI filter stage (ELA-650) is used to extend the measurement range down to 7 nm. Filter stage is put under stage 1 f the impactor. mpactor stage 12 is removed to enable the use of the existing electrometer and thereby an easy upgrade. ilter stage upgrade is reversible, which means that the instrument can be used either with or without the filter stage.
Sintered collection plates (IA-211) are designed to prevent common problems in impactor measurement: Impactor overloading and particle bounce. Instead of collecting the particles on a smooth collection substrate, the collection area is a sintered and porous oiled metal. Due to capillary forces, oil covers the collected particles and the impaction is always a particle to oil collision.
Especially when measuring bouncy particles, such as NaCl or diesel particles after removal of volatile hydrocarbons, the sintered collection plate allows 10 to 20 times more collected material on a plate without a fear of bounce or blow-off.
External Heating
ELPI External Heating Assembly Set (ELA-504) allows the ELPI charger and impactor to be heated up to 200° C. It is designed to be used for measuring from hot and humid environments. The use of the External Heating Assembly Set requires some modifications to the standard ELPI unit, since the impactor and charger have to be removed from the ELPI housing.
External Data Logging
ELPIVOLT module (ELA-502) is an optically coupled, three channel connection unit for ELPI auxiliary channels. Every single channel can measure voltages, current loop signals o |
| Gas monitoring in stacks PULSI 200LR In-stack gas monitoring
The PULSI 200LR analyser continuously monitors up to six components directly in flue gas stream.
The system consists of the sensor (Optical Head Unit) installed on the stack together with the automatic verification unit (Auto Zero Unit) and of the control unit (Analyzer Control Unit) or a PC with the instrument control software in the control room. Whenever a condensation may occur in the measured gases, the inâsitu probe is heated. PULSI 200LR uses non-dispersive absorption of infrared light in the Enveloped Folded Beam. The IR-light is beamed into the measuring chamber filled with the process gas and the concentration of a specific gas is calculated basing on comparison of the signal obtained with different filters. The measuring chamber is placed in the stack and its walls are made of sintered stainless steel panels. This unique designed creates an envelope which is normally filled with measured gases entering through the sinter filter. For the calibration the chamber is filled with calibration gas or zero air without taking the instrument out of the stack which allows to fulfil the standard EN14181 (QAL 3).
The instrument is certified according to the European standards (MCERTS) and accepted by the US EPA.
