For more than 30 years, MS has been at the forefront of the design, manufacture and installation of liquid/solid separation plants for tunnelling, mining, mineral extraction and environmental remediation. The company, based at Aubiere in France, employs 50 people and has a turnover of €15 million/year.
Slurry treatment plants for the separation of excavated soils and recycling of bentonite mud for tunnelling machines are an MS speciality, and the company also produces plants for the treatment of tunnel waste water.
MS has accumulated expertise in flexible and modular plant design tailored to the requirements of major projects such as the Groene Hart rail tunnel in the Netherlands and the Lefortovo highway tunnel in Moscow, which employed the largest TBMs ever built. The patented bentonite mud management system on these plants allows rapid adjustment of the density or viscosity of the slurry under treatment, adding flexibility to the operation of the TBM.
MS has its own laboratory and pilot test unit to perform accurate and individual analysis of every type of treatment problem. New technologies are regularly developed in the design and automation sections of the company, and specific components are manufactured in the MS workshops. A project team is permanently available for new jobs, and to answer queries from existing clients, supported by a network of specialized agents operating worldwide.
The MS project portfolio includes the supply of complete slurry treatment plants to: Toulouse Metro in France; Sophia rail tunnel in the Netherlands; Sydney airport link in Australia; Lewisham link on the Docklands Light Railway in London; Ferden section of the Lotschberg tunnel in Switzerland; A86 motorway tunnel in Paris; and Lok Ma Chau rail tunnel in Hong Kong. A plant is also under manufacture for the Hallandsas rail tunnel in southern Sweden.
MS has a stock of secondhand equipment refurbished by its own engineers to provide economic solutions for smaller projects.
| Treatment of the sand and sludge from Erika shipwreck Environment & Industry
The experience of MS, as well as its technical and experimental approach, enables it to put forward competitive solutions for separation in industrial fields related to the environment, such as :
The treatement of polluted soils (e.g. the sand and sludge coming from Erika shipwreck)
Concrete grout waste treatment, including pressing,
Cleansing of harbour or ponds ,
Vegetable washing water in food industry,
Glass recycling...

| Treatment plant including one DR 18 1000-1200 m3-h Water treatment
In accordance with the most stringent environment protection standards, MS offers a comprehensive range of physico-chemical water treatement plants, able to treat volumes from 50 to 1,600 m3/h, containing up to 80 t/h of solids in suspension. MS has also developped a specific mobile unit for the treatment of work-site waters. |
| Tunnel spoils treatment plant â Modane Quarries and gravel industries :
MS proposes, designs and installs "tailored to the job" solutions in Quarries and Mineral industries, in the field of sand processing, water recycling and sludge treatment.
To answer to the demands of the new standards for gravels and high performance concrete, MS propose complete processing plants including grainsize separation and automatic recomposition systems, such as the plants supplying the sand for the Millau highway bridge, or the one for the Tangiers harbour extension.
The physico-chemical water treatment units or sludge pressing units ensure an optimal recyling of the water, while complying with environmental standards
