The exhaust after treatment business, especially the reduction of particulate matter, is a worldwide focussed issue. HUSS is known in that business as a specialist in Europe and in international markets. Besides the core business in Germany, Austria and Switzerland projects in the USA, Canada and South-America were realized. The know-how of the employees and the established HUSS brand make the company interesting for different branches and deciders. Well known companies such as Jungheinrich, Mitsubishi, Bucher-Schörling, Hako, Multicar, Manitou or Caterpillar rely on the products of HUSS. The history of HUSS starts in the year 1920 with the foundation of the HUSS Maschinenfabrik in Bremen, Germany. The ship building industry was booming and the purpose of the company was the manufacturing of silencers for ships. By building spark arresters and exhaust washers, the environmental and health spirit was already implemented after a short period of time. In the 1980s the experience from the ship building sector was transferred to the fork lift truck industry. In these years the first health and safety regulations were set in place and created the necessity for exhaust after treatment devices on diesel engines. HUSS meets this challenge by designing a diesel particulate filter with electrical regeneration for fork lift trucks. Since 1985 diesel particulate filters with the HUSS brand, were successful installed in Germany and in other foreign countries. Products from these early days are still in use and state impressively the reliability of the products of HUSS. The development went on steadily. Filters in different sizes were developed, today up to 500 kW (about 700 hp) engine performance. The regeneration methods were innovated, too. Beside the electrical regeneration the HUSS is today known for its regeneration by diesel burner technology. This technology meets especially the requirements of diesel driven construction equipment. As an innovative company this was also not the end of the road. Today a system with engine external diesel injection for regenerating the filter during driving mode is available. In the year 2001 the exhaust after treatment has become so important that the sector was hived off into a separate corporation. The decades of experience in the silencer and diesel particle filter business found a new home in the HUSS Umwelttechnik. The premises for growth and success were given. Although the relationship to the former mother company is friendly a removal to Nuremberg, Bavaria was reasonable. Today the home of the company is in the north of Nuremberg close to the airport and the highway.
DataLogger Function principle The datalogger system, as stand alone instrument, is a help for the decision of the regeneration mode. Not all vehicles have such a permanent high exhaust gas temperature that a passive regeneration system functions with certainty. For offering an optimal filter system an integrated data logger makes it possible to record back pressure, temperature and RPM. This allows a professional documentation of data and reports. The use of a datalogger system is especially important, when the vehicles are operated under changing conditions (for example the Stop & Go Traffic)
Filter Elements A diesel particle filter has to grant two things: It has to filter the harmful diesel particles out of the exhaust gases and it has to be able, by regeneration, to get rid of these particles afterwards. Filtration and Regeneration are therefore the two main functions of a diesel particulate filter. The Filtration is done by a special filter medium. The 20 years of experience has shown that a ceramic based filter medium made from Silicon Carbide (SiC) best fulfils the requirements . The combination of excellent soot collection rate and low backpressure performance qualifies SiC to be one of the best available materials for filtering soot particles.
MA-System Function principle The modular designed MA-system is integrated in the exhaust piping of the vehicle, most of the times in place of the original muffler. The filter medium is made of Silicium Carbid (SiC), a high-tech ceramic. The filter is able to load the harmful diesel particles out of the exhaust up to 99.9% collection rate. The regeneration of the filter takes place while driving mode, after a certain soot load is reached in the filter and there is a minimum exhaust gas temperature. The entire process is supervised by the HUSS ACS control device.
ME-System The modular designed ME-system is integrated in the exhaust piping of the vehicle, most of the times in place of the original muffler. The filter medium is made of Silicium Carbid (SiC), a high-tech ceramic. The filter is able to load the harmful diesel particles between 8 and 10 working hours. Then the maximum allowed backpressure is reached and the filter needs to be regenerated. For this purpose the electrical heating is activated while the engine is shut-down. Depending on the filter size, the regeneration is completely over from 1 to 1.5 hours. The entire process is supervised by the
MK-System The modular designed MK-system is integrated in the exhaust piping of the vehicle, most of the times in place of the original muffler. The filter medium is made of Silicium Carbid (SiC), a high-tech ceramic. The filter is able to load the harmful diesel particles between 8 and 10 working hours. Then the maximum allowed backpressure is reached and the filter needs to be regenerated. For this purpose the diesel burner is ignited while the engine is off. Depending on the filter size, the regeneration is completely over from 5 to 35 minutes. About 100 ml to 300 ml diesel fuel are necessary for each regeneration. The entire process is supervised by the HUSS Control electronic device
| W-System The W-system is integrated in the exhaust piping of the vehicle, mostly instead of the original muffler. The exchangeable filter system consists out of exhaust inlet unit, which is integrated on the vehicle and the exchangeable filter cartridges. The cartridges are connected to the exhaust inlet by fast-release clamps. The filter medium is Silicium Carbid (SiC) a high-tech ceramic. The filter is able to load the harmful diesel particles between 8 and 10 working hours. Then the maximum allowed backpressure is reached and the filter needs to be regenerated. Depending on the filter size, the regeneration is completely over in 1 to 1.5 hours. For this purpose the loaded cartridge is removed from the vehicle and put on an external electrical heating. The entire process is supervised by the HUSS ZA1 control device. The vehicle is equipped with a fresh, unloaded cartridge and can go on immediately | |
