The new barrier was developed in response to new safety guidelines we have established with our customers and suppliers. Blobel has undertaken these changes with no official safety guidelines or regulations in place. After developing and extensively testing the new version, we have now successfully implemented the new system at various sites.

| Automatic systems are usually held by a magnet which is controlled electronically by the fire control switch board. Once an alarm is sounded, the barrier is released and travels into closing position. The weight of the barrier is compensated by gas charged springs, which also control the traveling speed. The interlocking is fully automatic and pneumatically controlled. Please note, these systems are often wrongly referred to as half- or semi automatic systems. |

Blobel has established, that barriers at a length of approximately 3m and a retention height of 30cm, which are controlled by gas charged tensions springs close at a speed, which may cause injury. Blobel has therefore designed a new system, which allows adjustment of the traveling speed of the barriers so that, safety and the environment are not compromised. Barriers at this height are now being controlled by a pneumatic cylinder instead of a gas charged springs. |
