We have formulated a corporate strategy that is targeted closely at these areas of business. SIMONA is a pioneer in environmental protection. For decades, we have been producing PVC sheets without hazardous lead stabilisers. 95% of the waste produced during operations is recycled.
Committed to its social responsibilities, SIMONA supports a number of aid projects, educational facilities and other initiatives throughout the region and beyond. In 2007, Anita Bürkle, widow of Dr. Wolfgang Bürkle, who was SIMONA AG's CEO and later Chairman of the Supervisory Board for many years, established a foundation by the name of "Dr. Wolfgang und Anita Bürkle Stiftung". The shares in SIMONA AG bequeathed to Mrs. Bürkle by her late husband were transferred to this foundation. Its objective is to support and promote worthy causes in the town of Kirn and the region as a whole.
2007 marks the 150th anniversary of SIMONA. Established in 1857 as a leather processing business, Carl Simon Söhne soon evolved into a company of international renown, reaching its zenith in the first decade of the 20th century. However, the two world wars that followed resulted in the total collapse of the European leather industry – precipitating SIMONA into a full-scale crisis. The company sought out new lines of business – and found them in the plastics industry. Since then, SIMONA has flourished and grown, establishing itself as a leading player within the field of plastics manufacturing. To commemorate our 150th anniversary, we decided to embrace a new corporate image, with red taking centre stage as our company colour. Red captures the spirit of energy, dynamism and passion. It is by pursuing these key values that we intend to achieve our aspirations and meet the exacting standards of our customers – worldwide, with total commitment, and always one step ahead of others.
Investor RelationsSIMONA AG shares are traded in the General Standard of Deutsche Börse, Frankfurt, as well as in Bremen and Düsseldorf.
