Fluidised Bed Incineration

Fluidised bed technology is accepted as a well reputed process for various applicatons in numerous business fields. AE&E Lentjes can draw on long-term experience in this area with a lot of references. The fluid bed technology is based on the physical principle according to which particles can be kept suspended by a stream of air flowing in opposite direction an to the force of gravity, thereby, creating a fluid bed. The material kept suspended - usually inert quartz sand - immediately coats the fuel, thus, ensuring optimum heat transfer. At the same time, the fluid bed acts as a heat sink. Fluidised bed firing systems offer the following main advantages: Furnace comprising stationary combustor with a refractory lining and no moving parts Uniform temperature distribution in the fluid bed due to extensive material and heat transfer, which - compared with other systems - ensures good combustion at low temperatures. Low operating temperatures, resulting in low NOx emissions on the combustor side. Quick and easy start-up and shutdown AE&E Lentjes uses the fluid bed technology for the combustion of e.g. sewage sludge, municipal and commercial waste, biomass and fossil fuels.

Grate Technologies

Thermal waste treatment applying different technologies. AE&E Lentjes is capable of offering for nearly every application a suitable and economical solution due to the broad range of processes available within the company. The most frequently used method of thermal waste disposal is incineration on grates. Depending on the heating value, water content, ash content and the level of pre-processing required, AE&E Lentjes can offer a number of suitable grate technologies. The heating value bands covered by the individual grate technologies are shown in the graph below.

Rotary Kiln Incineration

AE&E Lentjes designs and builds turn-key rotary kiln plants for the incineration of the most diverse industrial and special wastes, with all necessary offsites and utilities. Because of its composition, i.e. solid, liquid, pasty, mixed and its characteristics corrosive, caustic, reactive, not easily combustible Industrial and special waste is often detrimental to health and cannot be burnt in normal incineration plants designed for municipal waste, such as grate or fluidised bed plants. Therefore, the brick-lined rotary kiln is the universal tool for heterogeneous requirements of this kind. In combination with a post-combustion chamber it ensures complete burnout of both the mineral and the gaseous combustion products. The rotary kiln is used for the combustion of solid, liquid and pasty waste as well as containerised waste. Combustion usually takes place at temperatures above the ash melting point so that the ash can be removed as liquid slag. After cooling in the water-cooled deslagger, it is collected as a glass-like, environmentally friendly granulate. The gas produced in the rotary kiln is burnt off in a circular post-combustion chamber at temperatures as high as 1,200°C (and above). This process also involves the use of liquid waste. The post-combustion chamber and the liquid waste burner are designed to ensure optimum mixing of the flue gases and a sufficient residence time, which are major prerequisites for full burnout, particularly of thermally stable components such as dioxins and furans.
