Grit King

The Grit King® Process separates, cleans and dewaters grit from raw sewage and other liquids prior to delivering the grit to a skip ready for disposal. The Grit King® Process consists of a Grit King® Hydrodynamic Separator with backwashing system using air or water, a grit removal system (pump or gravity), a Grit-Cleanse™ or Grit Classifier and all connecting pipework. The Grit King® Separator requires no external power source, as it uses the inherent energy of the influent with a headloss of typically less than 150 mm. The Grit King® Process incorporates the following process stages: Grit King® Separator The Grit King® Separator is a hydrodynamic vortex separator which removes grit and sand from wastewater and other liquids. The dynamic separator is available either as a standalone vessel or internal components to be fitted into client's concrete chamber. Grit Removal - using one of two systems: i) Pumped System - using a recessed impeller type. or ii) Gravity System - using a Knife Gate Valve with Hydro-Brake® Flow Control Grit Classification - using one of the two alternatives: i) Series 3 Grit Classifier A grit dewatering and classification device providing a consistent grit quality with low organics content, typically less than 15% residual faecal organics by weight. or ii) Grit-Cleanse™ (Series 4 Classifier) A grit dewatering and classification device providing a consistent grit quality with very low organics content, typically less than 5% residual faecal organics by weight. Hydro-Brake® Flow Control

Overview A self-activating device that uses vortex technology to control and attenuation flow in collection systems. The Hydro-Brake® Flow Control is a self-activating vortex flow control device that provides superior hydraulic performance over conventional flow regulators with patented features that reduce maintenance requirements. Hydro-Brake® Flow Controls harness the energy inherent in the flow field, they have no moving parts and no external energy requirements. With clear openings up to 600% larger than conventional flow control devices, the risk of blockage is reduced to an absolute minimum. Hydro-Static® Screen

Overview Page A cost-effective, non-powered screen for the control of gross solids and floatables in combined sewer systems. Designed to complement Hydro International’s wide range of CSO Screening products, the Hydro-Static® Screen provides screening better than 6 mm in two directions. The Hydro-Static® Screen intercepts and retains floatables, aesthetically offensive material and gross solids over a wide range of flows. The collected material is then returned to the combined sewer after the storm event. An emergency overflow weir is incorporated into the screen should the peak design flow be exceeded. The Hydro-Static® Screen is available as either an Up Flow Screen or a weir-mounted Through Flow Screen. Hydro International’s patented flow-modifying components provide partial cleansing in the Up Flow configuration to keep maintenance to a minimum. The Hydro-Static® Screen components are typically supplied in grade 304 stainless steel as standard. The mesh screen panels are coated in a non-stick polymer. Advantages No moving parts. SludgeScreen

A Superior Screen with Reverse Function Versatility Click to download the SludgeScreen™ leaflet The SludgeScreen™ is a horizontal in-line coarse material separator comprising an inlet screening zone and a pressing (compacting) zone. The coarse material retained on the stainless steel inner screen surface, is transported to the stainless steel pressing zone and onward to the outlet by an archimedean screw. Compacted coarse material (screenings) are discharged by the action of a regulating cone controlled by detection of increased torque on the drive motor, into a suitable container. The optimum pressure for sludge supply to the screen is between 1 and 1.2 bar. Stormcell®

Stormcell® is a low cost, underground storage system suitable for installation beneath roads, car parks and amenity areas and permits access for inspection. Stormcell® is installed utilising a patented pipework system which prevents the entry of silts and grits into the storage volume. Virtually maintenance free and more effective than conventional systems, Stormcell® is a high capacity stormwater storage system which can be designed to suit shallow, deep or irregular site requirements. Swirl-Flo®

A high rate solids/liquid separation process suitable for primary treatment. The Swirl-Flo® Process employs the Hydrodynamic Separation principle to produce a complex, stable controlled flow regime providing maximum opportunity for flocculation and solids removal. The process can be used with or without chemical addition. Without coagulants and flocculants, the process provides the performance equivalent of conventional primary sedimentation in typically a fifth of the ground area, resulting in significant construction cost savings. The Swirl-Flo® Separator can be supplied as a freestanding vessel for low flow rates or as a collection of stainless steel components to be installed within a concrete shaft by others in the case of higher flow rates.
